Laura Gold Becker has been practicing law in Connecticut since earning her Juris Doctor degree from Boston University School of Law in 1986. Ms. Becker graduated with distinction from Cornell University in 1982, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies.

In addition to concentrating her practice in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors' rights, commercial collections and foreclosures; commercial construction; commercial litigation, and mediation, Ms. Becker currently serves as a foreclosure Committee on behalf of the Hartford Superior Court, and is a panel arbitrator/mediator for the American Dispute Resolution Center.

Prior to becoming a Member of Becker Law Offices, LLC, Ms. Becker was Of-Counsel at Baer Marks & Upham, LLC and a Partner at Winick & Rich, P.C., two New York law firms for which she served as the Connecticut office managing attorney, while maintaining her practice in the areas set forth above.

In the early years of her practice, Ms. Becker also worked for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy Trustee. During those years, and for several years thereafter, she represented not only the Trustee, but also Chapter 7, 11 and 13 debtors, creditors' committees and secured and unsecured creditors. Today, however, she limits her bankruptcy practice to representing secured and unsecured creditors, and trustees.

Originally from New York, Ms. Becker has lived in Connecticut for more than 30 years. During that time, she has served the community in a variety of ways, including by delivering Meals on Wheels, reading to elementary and preschool children as a literacy volunteer and as a volunteer for Gifts of Love, which provides food, clothing, and other living essentials to the working poor. She is currently an officer and on the Board of Directors of the North Central Area Agency on Aging, which provides for services to needy elderly and disabled persons and their caregivers.
